Literature Text

the wilderness, it beckons me
but naught do i reply
when on the wind the sultry scents
of summer bluster by
and when in dead of winter
lurk the lifeless branches, oft they sway
to tempt me with their whispers
of the peace of death at bay
and perched above a sunlit cape
my heaven waits for me
the endless earth that i may roam,
entwined in its infinity
This is about how for most of my adult life I've essentially become almost entirely an indoor person, yet within my heart there is a longing to spend my days outdoors, basking in the wonders of its beauty and warmth. It's strange as my childhood saw many days and years and moments outdoors, I played 3 sports for most of my childhood, my dad took me to state parks, parks in Philly, I used to play in the woods, used to go swimming all the time, camping at least once a year, was involved in the Cub/Boy scouts. I'm not quite sure what happened, I think it's the computer though. It's kind of sad really. This is me saying I think my afterlife will see "the endless earth that i may roam, entwined in its infinity." The title is shamelessly stolen from a Saves the Day song. Also this poem was written at least 8 years ago, I'm sure earlier than that. File date on the .txt document says 4/30/2006.
